Need info on art therapy in high functioning groups

In conducting a art project with a group of high functioning person's, I was asked what the purpose of the group was to be by my instructor. I know in O.T. they have patients do simple task so that they can evaluate their cognitive abilities. I not sure what exactly my instructor is looking for. She said something to the effect of what am I assessing for. Can someone help me out here????
