Art Therapy in Australia

As far as I know, art therapy is not recognised in Australia, however I am very interested in it. I have done a few courses with art therapists here who were previously psyhcologists. However, as they are now recognised as art therapists but not as psychologists. They practice on their own, privately. As far as I know, they did not recieve any formal training. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
