What do non-arts therapists think/know about art therapy?

I have been doing presentations recently for non-arts therapists about my research in art therapy. I have done experiential exercises, slide show case studies, and, probably most effectively, research presentations that were verbal and analytical. Some verbal therapists have told me that they don't have a clear idea about how art therapy actually works. As someone who has experienced both art therapy and verbal therapies as a client and a therapist, I find the functions they serve, populations they are useful for, etc.. very similar. I am interested in hearing what non-arts therapists have to say about art therapy, how they would describe it. What form of presentation or information informed you most effectively about art therapy?
