interested in art therapy

dear sir, hello and greetings from guam. I am currently an undergrad student majoring in fine arts. I recently heard about art therapy, and was wondering if you could provide me with more info. on it. I think it might be something I would want to do. As of right now, I am a Fine Arts major, but my parents want me to go into the medical field... and I am really confused. So when I heard about art therapy, I definitely was interested. Thank you, and just me, laine.
