    Hi Carroll,
Great LATERAL THINKING! I agree general with your proposal. Wholemeal flour, yes. Goat's milk, yes. Rolls of cloth, perhaps. Medicine dropped from the sky wouldn't be much use without doctors & nurses so you'd need to drop them in with Afghans to translate. Video players, DVDs, laptops need phone lines, electricity, batteries, dishes & all sorts of backup stuff to keep them operating so you'd need to rain down some electricians, technicians & deskhelp people, wiring, powers stations & instruction manuals too. Expect all personnel dropped in behind enemy lines to be shot at or taken as hostages. Millions Afghans have gathered at the borders & are already crammed into refugee camps in Pakistan. Dropping magazines & newspapers would supply fuel for the camp fires & could be used as insulation under the rugs for the coming winter. The content of magazines would have to be thoroughly checked & censored especially for pictures of naked & scantily clad ladies & any other stuff that might inflame passions instead of damping down the situation.
