Henry & All: Who? Where? The Adlerians
Gil Levin · 12/12/96 at 1:53 PM ET

By following the discussion here I now have a general sense of the Adlerian approach to therapy. And I thank those of you who have "spoken" here for that!

I have also noticed, both here and elsewhere on the Net, that many professionals are committed Adlerians or have been strongly influenced by Adler and those he taught. I wonder how those of you who are Adlerians came to be so. This is what prompts my question: I know something about the training and career trajectory of dynamically oriented therapists, cognitive therapists, Gestaltists, Fruedians, Jungian's and others. I even know roughly how many people associate themselves with each of these points of view. And have an impression about where such therapists are concentrated geographically and over the years I, have worked with colleagues in most of those categories.

Not so with Adlerians. So, Adlerians, I would be grateful if some of you could clarify this for me, both as to your personal pathway to Adler's work and your impression of the paths that others have travelled.

    Gil
