    This is an interesting question. I am not sure how he would feel but as I pondered this question I felt that Gemeinschaftsgefuhl" (social interest) should bring its own reward. The ideal is that we bring good for the sake of advancing the cause of humanity whether it is in a local group or to the "farther reaches" of humanity. Tangible rewards could be seen to be part of the post modern "there is no meta-myth" culture we live in wherein everything seems to have a material value instead of a social value. I suspect useful behaviour might better be its own reward because that is the ideal of human behaviour. I therefor conclude he would not favour material rewards but would place the emphasis on the reward of "adding to the whole" as the child experiences his first larger "community". I will be very interested to see what other comments may ensue in this thread. Thanks for a thought provoking question.
