Default Re: Medicating children with ADD

I have two very simple questions.

1.) How many of us know what the ingredients of Ritalin are?
2.) How many of us understand what effects the ingredients can have on a child of elementary school age?

Behavior modification works with children with ADD. Parents however have to be consistent when applying techniques.

I am a mom of two, and both when younger had add and adhd. I was alone and beside myself and didnt know what to do and if pills were the right thing. My pediatrician at the time said try them, if you don't like what the pills are doing, then just stop them.

Needless to say, It was the best thing we decided. It gave the kids the edge they needed to sit and be good students, NO they were not straight A students but it did give them the edge they needed to pay attention.

As young adults they are both off their med, however my oldest son still has problems finding which foot to lead with.

This is just a personal experience, I suggest talking to your childs doctor and be aware of the risk.

Warm regards,

Michele
