Talking Moore: So Help Me God; Ye'or: Eurabia

Judge Roy Moore - So Help Me God; Bat Ye’or - Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis.

I bought the first, autographed, in Nashville, the second at Alibris and found resonance between them.

In 2003, Moore defied an order from a federal judge to stop praying before hearings and lost his seat as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. Moore’s point: an acknowledgement of God has been in our legal customs since 1215 (the Magna Charta) and through Blackstone’s Legal Commentaries (1780) into our Declaration, our opening ceremonies for governmental functions, and, finally, onto our money. Moore, once a kid on a poor Alabama farm, was always a fighter whether at West Point, in Viet Nam, or against the ACLU.

One outcome is that religious activities in schools are permitted but only if the students demand them. Another is that we wander down Europe’s path, the one that led to its secularist decline. Charles Murray noted that European science and arts grew when Europeans found a God who approved of individualism. Neither secularism nor Islam has such a God. Europeans no longer make children, nor do they transmit their beliefs. Islam fills the hungers left by secularism and Dutchmen, Spaniards, and even blond Brits – in universities and in prisons – become “radicalized.”

Bat Ye’or is the pseudonym of Gisèle Orebi-Littman, an Egyptian Jew, chased from her homeland by Muslims. (“I had witnessed the destruction, in a few short years, of a vibrant Jewish community living in Egypt for over 2,600 years and which had existed from the time of Jeremiah the Prophet.” She now lives in Switzerland and has a string of books about the Islamization of Europe.

Charles de Gaulle, omitted from 1945’s Yalta Conference and offended by that omission, decided that the glory of France – as if a woman choosing between mates – lay with African and Mid Easterners and with opening her future to Islam in exchange for oil. Islam gained access for its younger population to universities, jobs, and enclaves. Thus, secularism, self-interest, and four decades of political correctness seeded both neighborhood riots across France and Sharia courts in England. Israel and the United States – especially during the American invasion of Iraq – became the adversary for both Europe and for Islam.

Europe builds Dubai while Dubai tears down Europe. Europe learns “Arab-made-easy,” the Palestinians are the first people in Muslim history to be recognized as a “nation,” and they invade Israel by means of rockets from Gaza and rants at the U.N. Obama’s now in the White House and the United States commits European suicide as if that were the latest good thing…
