Default Equity and the Sexes: Girlie, "Unfair" Ain't Enuff

Revised: Girlie, "Unfair" Ain't Enuff

Someone remarked that I must not like women. True enough. I'm a guy and as Buss-the-Great remarked in Evol of Desire, my strategies conflict with theirs. My greatest objection to their options is that they advertise "nice" while working to their own advantage.

I suspect the sexes have been reasonably balanced and that relationships between us change in regard to K- and r-selection. K-selection depends on stable environments and allows intricate relationships between species and individuals. r-selection reflects unstable environments, more selfishness, and more offspring but less investment in each of them.

K/r biases may underlie the Victorians failure to reproduce, likewise today for most of Europe and the US. Feminism is a product of static settings: keep things the same and the nags slip into the tent. The collapse, however, of the World Trade Center made at least one feminist proclaim that she finally appreciated testosterone and all the bitching from leftists about gender and racial equity vanished for several months.

The point has been made that females are less variable than males on nearly any trait chosen (Pinker, 2002; Kimura, 1999). While there is overlap on all traits, the important fact is not the difference in average performance but the ranges. This means that under competitive conditions, such as Harvard appointments, most males and females won't qualify and the males are far more apt to occupy the top rungs whatever the discipline. As I pointed out (Brody, 2005), females apply the same criteria to their sons as to their lovers, separate the gifted from the bizarre, and provide the quality control for human evolution.
Larry Summers, President of Harvard, offered to explore these points but a girl on the schoolyard yowled "unfair," first emotionally and then intellectually, and tattled that she might be left out of the marble game. Most guys would have accepted the degradation, looked for another job, or worked harder! Despite her tantrum, she may be one of women whom Hausman (1999, 2000, 2002) identified as coming from mothers who reproduce both less and late and who carry more testosterone and less estrogen. Such mothers and their daughters can navigate their way out of a paper bag and unfold three-dimensional figures. She, thus, may be able to compete on an equal basis with most males but still not attain top rank. As Charles Murray (2003) observes, lowering standards in order to include even one female on one of his lists of excellence requires that we add several hundred males who meet those same standards!

There, however, is an inverse: male advantage is balanced by male clumsiness.

Guys supply not only the best and brightest but also die younger in war or risky occupations. We spend more time in special education, vo-tech, and jail, and between ages 16-25, commit nearly all the rapes, robberies, speeding violations, and arson. (Rowe, 2002, tells of a biogenetic overlap in criminality: lower IQ, higher impulsiveness, and serotonin starvation.

If the girls want us to "play fair" as defined by equal outcomes, then justice demands equity not only for average women but also for loser guys. There is to be an immediate direction of women into prison cells, drunk tanks, and state hospitals. (Russ Barkley has already recommended a gender correction so that equal proportions of females and males receive a diagnosis of ADHD!) In order to equalize gender ratios in military cemeteries, a large number women must be shot. Further, we must find impulsive women with low intelligence to commit sexual assault. Note also that women seldom abandon their children but, through obesity, sexual denial, and sour disposition drive out their male partner: this practice, one more outcome of a purely cultural bias, must cease and child custody and support payments must be assigned on the basis of gender quotas. Finally, a proportionate number of women, when 60 years old, are to kill themselves while drunk, poor, and alone.

Thumbs up Re: Girlie, "Unfair" Ain't Enuff

Excellent essay JimB. And I attribute the political incorrectness of it to you being male . . . it’s not easy being us.
