Default Telephone-based CBT

While it may seem self-evident, it turns out that CBT works over the phone as well as in person. For example see http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/512256 . While there are drawbacks to doing therapy over the phone (missing out on non-verbal cues for one), it is really handy when it isn't practical for the client to come to your office.

Default Re: Telephone-based CBT

Interesting stuff. Do you think this says anything about the importance (or lack of importance) of non-verbal cues? Or might we speculate that phone therapy emphasizes other aspects that compensate for the lack of non-verbals?
