Default Neurobiology and CBT

If you are interested in the interface between CBT and the neurology and biology of anxiety, two editions of the journal Biological Psychiatry look quite interesting. The November 15, 2002 is a special edition on "Learning and 'Unlearning" Fears: Preparedness, Neural Pathways, and Patients" and the May 1, 2003 edition is a special edition on "Acute Responses to Stress." Both series feature articles by well-known CBT authors and look quite promising.

Default Neurobiological effects of CBT for depression

PET-scans have produced interesting findings about the neurobiological effects of CBT for depression and how these compare with the neurobiological effects of both antidepressant medication and a pill placebo. I'm not sure I understand the results well enough to summarize them, but you can access the article online at http://archpsyc.ama-assn.org/content...sue1/index.dtl.

The article is:
Goldapple, K.; Segal, Z.; Garson, C.; Lau, M.; Bieling, P.; Kennedy, S.& Mayberg, H. (2004). Modulation of Cortical-Limbic Pathways in Major Depression: Treatment-Specific Effects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Archives of General Psychiatry, 61, 34-41.
