Default Biography: Martin Perdoux

Martin Perdoux has taught in the MFA program in the Interdisciplinary Arts Department at Columbia College Chicago's Center for Book and Paper Arts, and the graduate art therapy program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he is now Associate Director in the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs.

Martin coauthored a community psychology book with Leonard A Jason, Ph.D., Havens: Stories of True Community Healing (published by Praeger Publishers in 2004, with a foreword by Thomas Moore). "Gone Local," a chapter from Martin's unpublished memoir was also published by Middlefinger Press (2004) http://www.middlefingerpress.com in an anthology to benefit Parkinson's research, Don't Abuse the Muse. Another chapter, "Coup D'Etat," won a 2001 Illinois Arts Council Artist Fellowship Award in prose http://www.state.il.us/agency/IAC/IA...rdoux/Home.htm, and was a finalist in the 2001 William Faulkner Creative Writing Competition. Martin received a faculty enrichment grant from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and several writing residencies in Illinois at the Ragdale Foundation, and in Michigan at the Roger Brown House and Studio and at OxBow.

Martin has lectured at the Chicago International Film Festival, the International Museum of Surgical Science, and Harlan Jacobson's Talk Cinema. He was a featured guest on radio shows like Chicago Public Radio's 848, and Interface Radio. His work was published in the Chicago Reader, The Reader's Guide to Arts and Entertainment, Folio http://www.american.edu/academic.dep...spring2002.htm, the Journal of Pedagogy, Pluralism, and Practice, and Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. Current research interests include interdisciplinary work and the use of creative writing as a form of art-based research. Martin received his Master of Arts in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has been a registered art therapist for 10 years.

Martin is a native French speaker.
