Thumbs up Uncritical critique!

I was just in a critique organized Through IL Art Therapy Association by Dan Anton and Don Seiden two of my dear friends and colleagues. Several others attended. I must admit the concept of facing criticism was very daunting. It brought back memories of harsh opinions uttered as fact by college professors who were so sure of their rightness; they could not see they are creating poor copies of themselves. It was a happy surprise then, to experience the respectful way ideas and thoughts were offered. They where simultaneously challenging, supportive and inspiring. I know it opened up avenues of artistic inquiry for me that I had unnecessarily shut out for myself. I also know I made almost spiritual connections with some and reinforced them with others in this event. It is an amazing feeling to know that you are not alone in the universe, a fact, of which I was reminded last Saturday.
