Analysis of client’s artwork
I am researching the notion of analysis as it refers to the work of art therapists. Specifically I am interested in differing ideas about weather analysis has a place in art therapy or not. By analysis I mean any suppositions and conclusions made about the art work and it’s contents either with the clients input and collaboration or with out it. I would like to ask if anyone is aware of articles, book chapters or books relating to this issue. I will be very grateful for your assistance in the matter. You may send any ideas or responses to my e mail address: hmazloomian@hotmail.com .
Regards, Hoda

Re: Analysis of client’s artwork
I believe (and my knowledge is limited here) that British and American art therapy differs in this respect. Certainly I have been told that British art therapists almost never interpret clients art work, whereas their American counterparts may be more likely to utilize the art work as a diagnostic tool.
This may not be accurate, though, as I say, my knowledge is limited. |
