Cool Handicap Principle: Kennedy/Nixon

APRIL 26, 08, 9:50AM, WABC.

Mark Simone shared the following:

Peter Lawford, actor, told Jack to get 3 days tan & apply his make-up at home, announcing later, at the set where he would debate Richard Nixon, that "I don't need make-up."

Nixon followed his example, looked sweaty, pale, sick and sinister and lost the election...helped along by a suitcase of cash from Joe Kennedy, via Frank Sinatra, to have been delivered to characters in Illinois and West Virginia...so it went, per Simone.

Zahavi & Zahavi (1997) would have predicted the outcome...
