Men First Out of Africa?

In a repartee between Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, one asked the other, "Why is it that when a man has trouble with a woman, the first thing he looks for is another woman?" It could have happened in Africa.

As for the reason behind Frank and Dean's observation, my hyperactive male clients show more extreme separation reactions - fear, weight loss, tears, and even willingness to take medication and get "therapy" - until they are safely back in the house. These same guys report they also have difficulty sleeping until they hear her come in from her second shift job.

Given the protective roles that mothers take on for their sons, clinging to mom could be more than usually helpful even for an old fart. Was the prospect of more women and of different women the vision that led our ancestors up the Dnipro (Dnieper) River? Were these guys kicked out of their home world, were they visionaries seeking a new one, or were they merely, like many cossacks, just having good time regardless of where it led...
