Lightbulb Use of videos for educational purposes.

Hello there,

I've just signed upto this site, so it's my first time using it!
I've just started work at a University & I'm in the process of setting up a course on CBT. I'd like to use some video material as an adjunct to what's being delivered e.g., Assessment - micro-skills etc.
Treatment of different disorders e.g., panic,
psychosis etc.

Is this the right forum? Does anyone have any useful suggestions, with details, costing of such videos etc.

Thanks in advance.
Roo Slaney.

Probably the wrong forum but, hey, we appreciate the interest.

The only thing I can think of relevant to this particular forum would be patient confidentiality issues when making, showing, and distributing videos. You probably already have that covered.

Hi Roo. You might get more responses to your question if you posted it in the general and cognitive therapy forums.

From an ethical POV, Dr Reid already said it. To use tapes of your actual sessions you need your client's written consent. I would also check with your university to see if they have any additional restrictions.

For commercial videotapes I'd suggest checking out agencies and/or sites that specialize in psych professional resources like APA, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, Guilford Press, etc.

Good luck on your endeavours.
