Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

Hello George,

I would like to react to this, just for my understanding of the material. You quote Adler with these phrases:

"Then, for reasons of clarity, this goal must be made concrete. Real...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

Hello Rita,
you are right about the fact that a psychiatrist or any other therapist deals with people who have covered already a good deal of their lifetime. What really is in a baby is mere...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

Hello George,

I visited a german therapist, Mrs Edeltrud Jendritza, a few years ago for my learning analysis, and I asked her what would be the right translation for "Individual Psychology". The...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

Hello George,
I like this idea of "initial experience of incompletude or "inability"
It sounds as if the first thing a baby experiences is a lack of competence. When hungry the baby experiences...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

Hello George,
I am thrilled by all the ideas that are shared here. Apparently you must have touched a vital nerve that stimulated so many brains to speak out.
At least you touched that nerve in me...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

George,
I know that the inferiority feeling is not caused by organ inferiority. I was mainly pointing to the development of Adler's thinking, that shifted from his professional interest in the body...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

George,
I think that the ground you are looking for might be found in the development of Adler's thinking as a physician who became interested in a phenomenon he called "organ inferiority". How...

Red face Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

Hello George,
it is almost becoming literature, all these assumptions of how a foetus would experience and interprete his stay in the womb. Sounds a bit like the movie that could have been produced...

Re: Constructivism and Postmodernism

Note on this discussion about Classical Adlerian Therapy and the Dreikursian interpretation of it.
As far as I understand Adler from his direct German writings he was very direct in pinpointing the...

Re: Superiority/Inferiority

Hello Rita,
Your response gave me that broad smile, when you talk about the "Hochnaesigkeit" of the German and the Swiss. Maybe it is just because of their natural habitat that they feel that they...

Re: Recovered memory

Quote:
That is not to say one has to challenge the memory as an occurrence, but rather the effects of that memory. The question becomes, which of the two, memory or belief is the interfering factor....

Re: Superiority/Inferiority

The German "Ãœberlegen" has also very much the connotation of "to outdo"
The striving for "Ãœberlegenheit" can be seen as the relatively sound form of the compensation of the situation of...

Re: From the ground up ... an Adlerian primer??

I think this project is very much in the spirit of Alfred Adler who must have loved this kind of "Vienna Circle". We assume that he loved to discuss the basic ideas of his theory and the philosophy...

Re: Superiority/Inferiority

Hello George,
I just took a closer look to "Goal of fictional superiority". I guess that maybe it can be better to speak of the "Fictional goal of Superiority". Adler used the German word "Ziel" and...

Re: Superiority/Inferiority

Hello George,
Although I am not fluent in German I know that the word for Superiority in German is "Uberlegenheit". Which is something like "being better than...."
Fiction is in German "Fiktion".
