Re: Evolved Psychology - Brain Region Tied to Regret Identified

I don't think you understand what I was saying (though I'm not going to categorically deny that there may be small inconsistencies in what I say - my explanation below should be helpful).

Re: Evolved Psychology - Brain Region Tied to Regret Identified

Right . . . sorry about that. I don't pretend to completely understand the literature in this area, but to my knowledge, many of these complex processes (e.g. collective decision-making by ants, fish...

Re: Evolved Psychology - Brain Region Tied to Regret Identified

Re: Evolved Psychology - Brain Region Tied to Regret Identified

There's no spooky action from a distance going on . . . emergent properties are just a consequence of multiple individuals interacting in mathematicaly intractible ways. Collective decision making is...

Re: Evolved Psychology - Brain Region Tied to Regret Identified

I'm sorry Tom but I think there's more to the picture here . . . even ant colony behavior, which is way, way simpler than human brain behavior, cannot be deterministically modelled. Some wholes are...

Re: Evolved Psychology - Brain Region Tied to Regret Identified

This is a poor analogy . . . the solar system is vastly simpler than a human brain, and it is absolutely the case that consciousness is an emergent property. I agree with Wiki that the word emergent...
