SEEKING JOB Northeast Atlanta
 

Hello all! I live in NE metro Atlanta area (closer to Athens, Georgia) and graduated in August with my M.S. degree. I am now in a doctorate program and continuing education with The Atlanta Center for Cognitive Therapy also. Unfortunately, my goal is to work toward my licensure. This is difficult to do when most places want to hire those who are already licensed. Getting my foot in the door has become a difficult task!

If anyone has advice on any job openings that offer supervision for counselors, please let me know. I am looking for a job in the following counties: Gwinnett, Walton, or Barrow counties in Georgia. This would include cities like Athens, Lawrenceville, Snellville, Buford, Monroe, Loganville, Duluth, and some others.

I dont know your email, but i have a couple of thoughts for you.

In my local area there are quite a few sliding scale clinics that offer low cost counseling to those needing it - but the counselors working there are interns and / or trainee's. I think counselors getting their supervision at those clinics really have the opportunity to be with a very broad section of the population, and work with many different situations and issues.

Locally there are also folks that start working in hospitals as interns / trainee's.

Finally, I know the government sometimes hires folks with a masters in psych to do social work while they get their certification and supervision.

Have you looked in to those areas?
