Aaron Beck discusses the legacy of Freud

You can see Aaron Beck and other leading psychiatrists discuss the legacy of Sigmund Freud on the Charlie Rose show at www.CharlieRose.com. (Search for "Beck" and you'll find two episodes where he was interviewed.

Oh, in my long absence, I thought I remembered that there might be a discussion about the psychoanalytic term "defense mechanisms" and how these related to the conduct of CBT. I know, Dr. Pretzer, at some point, you were exploring this--- I think?

Thanks,

Doug

If that happens can you start a new thread, because I think such a discussion might deserve its own day light, assuming there is participation of course. Might want to even invite those Forum moderators with analytic leanings!

CBT and Defense Mechanisms

You can find a bit on defense mechanisms and other psychodynamic concepts in the " Beck Meets Freud" thread in this forum.

I'm on the road at the moment but I'll try to find time to post more on this topic sometime soon.

I've finally had time to reply. See the new thread "CBT and Defense Mechanisms."
