How does CT under real life conditions compare with CT in clinical trials?

Critics have argued that CT does well in carefully controlled clinical trials where research subjects are carefully selected are therapists are carefully trained but have questioned how well it performs under real life conditions. There actually are quite a few studies testing the effectiveness of CT in a variety of real life settings and the findings have been quite positive (see the thread in the forum archives).

A recent study compared CT for depression in a routine practice setting with CT for depression in a controlled outcome study. The reductions in depression are reported to have been quite similar in the two samples.
