Socialized can be hypnotized

What basis do you think Milton Erickson had for making the statement that
“anyone who can be socialized can be hypnotized? Can anyone help me with
the aforementioned quote from Dr. Erickson? I have tried to look this up and no luck. Does it have to do responsiveness or suggestions? I would appreciate any input..thanks :)

Re: Socialized can be hypnotized

The phrase that "anyone who can be socialized can be hypnotized" is not from Erickson. It is from me. I coined the phrase to emphasize that the socialization process is a process or inducing perceptions, beliefs, feelings, behaviors, and so on....and so...if one is capable of getting so socialized/induced, one has the skill set to be hypnotized.

Erickson, on the other hand, said that he believed that everyone except for those who were severaly brain damaged could be hypnotized. I think this is found in the "hypnotherapy casebook" by Rossi and Erickson. (I *think* that is were it is stated).
