Liberal-Conservative Wiring

Journal Watch captures what's hot in psychiatric research. Unfortunately, the following clip requires a subscription. Fortunately, the orginal article is in Nature Neuroscience. Just as average men and women differ by genes (NY Times, sometime a year ago), they also differ according to an "error-related negativity" in their frontal cingulate cortex. Briefly, liberals tended to be more accurate on a go/no-go task. The reviewer, Jonathan Silver, noted that the subjects were all recruited from the NYU and UCLA, and none of them rated himself as "highly conservative." (But that shouldn't matter to a UK publication, especially a scientific one!)
