Drama Queen
I am in dire need of information on what makes a person thrive on drama. My fiancee will manipulate, lie, and twist facts and people so that there always seems to be some sort of crisis going on, and it's about to drive me @#$%^&*ing nuts. Can someone please explain this behavior, what causes it and how to deal with it? Thank you.

Re: Drama Queen
Some people feel the constant need to gain attention, which is what is normally found at the heart of the problem when it comes to Drama Queen style people.

For whatever reason they lack self confidence which in turn requires them to seek constant approval from other people, even when this goes badly for them it does not stop them from continuing to seek it in the future.

You can train people out of it but its a lot of work.

Re: Drama Queen
They did not get attention from their parents. When they were ok, they were ignored, when they were sick or in trouble at school, they got attention.

as adults they repeat this unconscious childhood pattern

Re: Drama Queen
Read up on 'narcissism' or read up on 'spoilt kids' - sometimes it can be because of that.

On the other hand, how does one educate the parents not to repeat these patterns? (What witnessing_presence wrote.) Anyone working in this area?

Re: Drama Queen
as many above stated, generally lack of attention growing up. That has to be a very frustrating situation to live in. Best of luck!
