New Training Program in Classical Adlerian Substance Abuse Treatment
A new, special focus option, in substance abuse treatment, has been added to the distance training program in Classical Adlerian Depth Psychotherapy offered by the Alfred Adler Institutes of Northwestern Washington and San Francisco. This unique integration of depth psychotherapy and the philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) provides a powerful, dual-intervention in the treatment of recovering addicts and alcoholics.

The Substance Abuse Treatment option is available only as part of our three-year Certification program.

Students who elect this option will be mentored by Dyanne Pienkowski, M.A., MFT, who combines over twenty-five years of training with Dr. Henry Stein & Dr. Sophia de Vries, with exceptional knowledge, skill and over thirty-five years' experience in substance abuse treatment. A Classical Adlerian Training Analyst, she is certified as a Master's Addiction Counselor (MAC). You can read her article, "Substance Abuse From a Classical Adlerian Perspective," at

For training details, visit and select the "Special Focus: Substance Abuse Treatment" link. For additional information, contact Dr. Stein at (360) 647-5670 or e-mail
