Can anyone advise of the appropriateness of placing an 11-year old female child back with her natural father after removal following suspected sexual abuse. Father has 2 children by divorce decree, mother had been out of the picture for 2+ years. Problem was that Dad had fondled a babysitter age 12, while intoxicated, and 11-year old female child also said she had been touched by Dad. Seems daughter was incorrect about her allegations, but she showed "indications" of genital/anal penetration in exam. Daughter did not identify Dad as that perpetrator- she identified no perpetrator, in fact. I have been advised that one psychologist has adamently stated that daughter should never be considered to be returned to Dad's custody and am curious as to whether that belief may be widely held in these circles. Dad also has 3 DUI convictions, has remarried and has done well in follow-up counseling. Any thoughts to assist in this?
