You assume that such views are necessarily religiously inspired, rather than based on personal theory of what really makes people happier and function better. No, age IN AND OF ITSELF is not necessarily problematic. But in this case, consider also that there was a significant power differential, the same that exists perhaps between a client and clinician. For those same afore-unmentioned reasons, I say what the president did was self-serving and potentially psychologically harmful. And, did it make either one of them any happier?
