As a loving and extremely active father of two preschool-aged boys (4yo and 2yo), I've recently noticed a bizarre and embarrassing problem with myself. Whenever I'm in close contact with either of them, such as hugging or reading bedtime stories, I sometimes become erect. While I have absolutely no sexual desires or tendencies whenever I'm in these situations, something in the back of my mind must be causing this? It is extremely embarrassing and has caused some friction between my wife and I. Also, I’m afraid of the kind of sexual responses my children might be learning from these misled erections. A medical friend suggested that these erections were nothing more than my body reacting to a sudden change in my own body heat caused from the close contact with the children. Any advice on the kinds of therapy or medication I should consider to prevent this embarrassment?
