A couple of brief thoughts: First, I don't think anyone said the young man didn't need treatment. For myself, I simply stated that family systems issues may be in play here, and need to be evaluated. Second, you state that a 12 year old engaging in sex play with a 5 year old is "not normal". How do you KNOW that? Please cite the empirical data that supports that position. I have worked extensively with juvenile sex offenders, and I know there is little data to support such broad assertions. We haven't the foggiest idea as to what's "normal", at least in a statistical sense. Third, I appreciate your advocacy for the 5 year old, who certainly needs to be protected. However, I think your statements reflect that sense of advocacy more than they reflect science.
