Dear Gerald: I think the Rorschach is an excellent test but I totally agree that one test is not sufficient. Unfortunately, the agency only allowed one (their choice was the Rorschach) and the patient refused additional projective measures, even though he did not have to pay. In addition, throughout the assessment process, he was very guarded. My recommendations included a complete assessment and that he undergo counseling with a psychologist competent in sexual offense issues, to explore issues revolving around the arrest, alleged charges, integration and expression of thoughts and emotions. I'm sure my employer (who is not a psychologist) was equally displeased with my concluding summary "...psychological testing especially when only one test is utilized, is less helful when the lleged behaviour is of nonviolent fondling.
