I've been a grief counsellor for over 25 years, and I've seen a number of reactions to grief, all of which I categorize as "normal". For some people the emotional pain associated with thoughts of their impending loneliness is so great, that they will "glom onto" another human being in any way, shape or form. It's a symptom of shock and denial, really -- quite normal.
