All I can say to this "anonymous" musing is: prove it! I am not debating the state of mankind or this planet; or am I arguing that all human (heterosexual) behavior is "good" for our species or our planet. And, I do not support continued, unchecked reproduction of our species; and have witnessed the many social, economic, and ecological problems and dilemmas it has created. However, after all the doomsday predictions and hand wringing environmental paranoia, we're still here and so is earth. And, if you want to tell me that we and it will all be gone in 50 years because of uncheck heterosexual breeding, that's your right. However, tell me what the probability is that your prediction is correct; explain cause and effect; demonstrate how homosexual lifestyle will change this in a society where many gays want the right to marry and produce children (and are doing so). The links between same sex orientation, attraction, and lifestyle and biologically adaptive advantages are pipe dreams, nothing more at this time, and such things as a desire to "be like heterosexuals" socially, support a social-psychological model of determinance, not a biological one. What I would like to discuss and see real research about are the possible linkages between innate personality traits and environmental influences that lead to same sex attractions. I see little doubt that this is both a nature and nurture question, but research into the nurture side is condemned and ridiculed because, as Morgan Hunt said, the actions of the "new know-nothings" are a major threat to the continuation of scientific research. Real science is stifled by their fear that knowledge gained might be harmful to their political and social agendas. I see this current debate has been stifled by the same fears, so it would be best to discontinue at this time.
