Oh I have learned many new things about on line therapy... I was reading the responses that were under the "Not secure for 4 months"... the posts were extremely emotional yet very wrong. Not emotional, just fact, the above assertion is false and I can prove it. Actually MyTherapyNet.com was insecure for AT LEAST five months, from at least September 2002 until Feb 2003, there was no SSL Certificate for that site. I checked during that time. I’m not sure prior to 2002 but for those five months, there was no SSL cert. Here is more proof - The MyTherapyNet SSL Security Certificate, serial number 00B5 99EB 20E5 EA29 7A6D B16F 3AEB A50E B7, was not purchased – issued until Feb 20, 2003, and prior to that time the site indicated no Secure Sockets Layer certificate and therefore any data transmitted from clients of MyTherapyNet to that web site were insecure during that time. MyTherapyNet did not have an SSL cert prior to that time period, I checked. If you did and think I’m wrong, then post the SSL serial number and CA issuer here and prove me otherwise. Anyone who clicks the lock icon in the lower left hand side of your web browser can verify this, SSL cert purchase dates and the issuer, and the serial numbers, are all verifiable by the public. So MyTherapyNet.com DID not have a SSL certificate until that time, and anyone who used MyTherapyNet prior to that time have had their confidentiality and mental health records at risk. Unless of course they people who run that have additional proof of SSL certs other than the one that was purchased in Feb, 2003, which I believe was the first one they ever purchased, mainly because they read this forum and realized they should buy one. I also find it very interesting that they purchased their existing certificate less than four weeks after this thread began which first let the public know that the MyTherapyNet.com site was not secure. I would be very hesitant to deal with any on line therapist who is so careless with client records and confidential communications. In fact, even though they have an SSL certificate, that does not guarantee that their chat software is also falling under the SSL umbrella - anyone signing up with them should verify this before paying money to them. Lest your conversations can be monitored easily by anyone. Merry Xmas.
