I am wondering why you are giving out your e-mail address to clients when it sounds like it is such a chore to answer phone calls. I would be inclined to look at why the therapist is more comfortable with e-mail than a phone call.
If the relationship between therapist and client is such that the therapist has distaste in answering their clients, well then, there is more than just an e-mail issue. How do you decide which clients get your number and which ones do not? Are we not here to be nonjudgemental and understanding? I find that being up front with clients in the begining about phone calls has had a positive effect. I think that giving them the option of e-mail defeats the therapy sessions. Most people are more comfortable opening up on the computer than face to face with their therapist. Unless this person is going to only communicate with computers, I feel this idea is very damaging to them in the long run.
