Hi there There is no empirical base so far, as far as I can see. Two multimedia CBT treatments for depression (Jesse Wright in the US and Judy Proudfoot in the UK) are currently in the final stages of clinical trial and the results look good. But these are not internet treatments. Isaak Marks has also been successful with a 24-hour telephone accessed interactive computer treatment for OCD management. Justin Kennardy in Australia is having some fun and success with palmtop computer treatments for panic disorder. I'm just setting up an RCT comparing two forms of internet-based CBT for depression - interactive self-administered Tx versus the same treatment that is augmented by weekly group therapy sessions in real time chat. We do have a clinical population and a good design. Our biggest problem is trying to adapt CBT for effective delivery on the internet. As mentioned in a message under this one though, we really need some help with designing the software/website. Cheers Dazza <depanx@hotmail.com>
