Actually there is another way to handle it: find another therapist who practices ethically. Therapists should not be telling their clients about their own personal problems, clients have enough to deal with as it is. It’s sad about the tumor; that does not mean that clients need to be burdened with another crises that is not a part of her or his life. My mom has Lou Gherigs disease and is dying, needs to be hand fed. I would never want a client burdened with that kind of pain.
