Thanks for your posts. They illustrate the hazard of seeming to encourage fractures by talking to parts if there is no evidence of parts. That's why I wait until there is looping. After all, if there is looping it means some part of the self is not engaged with the processing, so there is by definition evidence of parts. We are discouraging fractures by roping into the work parts that are disowned or dissociated when we talk to them. An exception to my above rule is with highly dissociative clients. In that case we do ego state work and talk to part well before doing EMDR. In that case we have plenty of evidence of fractures already.
