The following are some general possibilities that apply to some people who have trouble accessing in EMDR - may or may not apply in your case - talk to your therapist to check: - some people learned that it isn't safe to have feelings, so an early EMDR might target the picture of having emotions in the past present or future, and process whatever comes up. - some people have their feelings contained out of awareness -- if an EMDR isn't going anywhere, I ask people to look in a conference room in the minds eye and tell me what they see. Often, whatever would be coming up but is blocked is visually evident in that conference room. Then I interview that aspect of self to see what's holding it back. - Some people find that bodywork of some kind can help release things that are blocked. I sometimes work with a Reiki practitioner who starts the processing on a body level, and then I follow up with EMDR on whatever shook loose. - There can sometimes be blocking beliefs in the way of processing, like, who would I be if I weren't the way I am now - nobody. Etc. Again - may or may not apply in a given case.
