I have a webcam that I use only in private chat sessions with people that I have established an intimate chat relationship with. After chatting with someone over an extended period of time, you begin to imagine what they look like. Many ppl will give a physical description but that hardly takes the place of view. There's a progression that occurs in a chat room forum where a group of ppl may have a commonality that brings them to select whatever topic that interest them, just as there is a progression in what we share with indiviuals in "real" life. When you confide the deatils of your life with someone and exchange ideas and beliefs with them you begin to feel an emotional connection that, at some point, you feel the desire to deepen and progress to something outside of the box that you experience their words in. I don't believe using a webcam for many ppl is any different then sending someone a picture. I also have family that lives overseas and we use the webcam just as we would use a video camera...to share important events with each other...to shorten the distance between us and make the separation more bearable. This forum is fasinating, John, and if addiction is in fact possible I believe your site would "have me." *grins*
