Yes, there are some who are dishonest about who and what they are, however, there are just as many in real-time who do the same thing. Do you think every person that you meet in real-time is honest about these things with you? I think it would be highly unlikely for someone with a personality disorder to introduce themselves as someone with a personality disorder? The internet is NOT only made up of dishonest people who lie about who they are. To make that sort of statement is un-informed. I have had the pleasure of meeting online MANY wonderful people who have become real-time friends. The internet provides a place to socialize with people of common interests and intellect that without it we would never of had the priviledge of meeting otherwise. Many highly educated 'normal' people use the internet to socialize and meet friends and for some eventual partners. It provides an opportunity for people whose lifestyles because they are too busy, live in an isolated area etc. to have a social-life which is an integral part of our biopsychosocial being.
