Fair enough, but if Vishnu would've assumed the form of a rock with all its characteristics, it wouldn't be much good, would it. Say every visitor of a webpage appears on that page as a purple drop and everyone looks the same and they have no names or means to communicate... the purple drops might qualify as avatars, but they wouldn't do much good. Maybe i should rephrase,
