well, I'm a psychology sudent, or atleast until the next semester of school.. at which point in time I plan on making a slight alteration in my pursuit of a clinical psychologist career. I will be gaining a degree in the school of ed. for Professional counseling. I really did some thinking lately on the thought of how online therapy cant be much more affective than face to face therapy. Not online for me (as I am a writer and can express myself best with written words) but also for the patient. THe internet has eliminated the boundaries that are present in f2f meetings. The patient will feel more secure in their privacy, and be more willing to talk in greater detail about their problems. With identity no longer causing insecurity the therapist suddenly has a whole lot more room to really dig deep inside the personality of who they are chatting with. I am speaking from personal experence from counseling online. I have grow extremely interested in online chat therapy and started experimenting with a few chatroom members along side a boyfriend of one of my best-friends. The boyfriend has become the main source of experimentation. He was recently dumped by my friend and came to me via AOL Instant Messenger to ask what he had done. I decided to become his personal counselor. And the sessions have gone very well so far.. with his countless email of graditude I assume he is satisfied with them as well. In any event, my opinion of online counseling and therapy is very high. I just wish now I could find someone who would pay me for doing it! Haha.. oh well, i guess you don't get to get paid for doing what you enjoy until you spend lots of money and a few years getting a degree. Too bad..I think I am well adequate for the job despite my lack of a degree at the present time. At least its good training... and if anyone is offering a internship type of position I would be interested! Please email: Sarah333e@hotmail.com
