Thanks for this fascinating, thoughtful post. It sounds like you found in this character a side of yourself that you enjoy expressing, and which also greatly benefits that gaming community. Essentially, you have become the benign "Mother" of the group. Maybe it's an important aspect of who you "really" are. You might be surprised to find out that other people in the community also have altered aspects of their "real" identity - either a little or a lot. In fact, in many online communities this is the norm and people accept it. However, that may not be the case in your group. Other than your feeling guilty about "deceiving" people, is there any pressure on you to reveal your in-person identity? I find myself wondering at what point you started to feel that guilt. I also found myself wondering what was on your mind when you first assumed that character - what were you hoping to accomplish in the community, and for yourself.
