It's true. The TVs have always dominated our house & 'the wife' is often busy watching Oprah or some soapy intently. Sometimes the TV is only as background while she is doing things & if it gets switched off the response is, "I was watching that." Sometimes I have asked, cheekily something about what was on & get only a blank look. My son & I usually turn off the sound to discuss something if we are watching TV together. If 'the girls' are in the room turning off the sound in the middle of a show is a 'no, NO!' Even turning off advertisments is not appreciated. I sometimes wonder why. When I mentioned this situation to our ggod friend & family doctor. He said, "you should cut all the cables, that would fix that!" As to gender, you probably thought 'Lindsay' would be female. Communication & Behavior on & off line is a fascinating study.
