I worked as an escort until just recently and have been active in the sex worker rights movement for over ten years. Please visit my website: www.veronicamonet.com for more information about me and my media credits. I am an experienced media spokesperson on the topic of prostitution. I have included a radio program (attached) on the topic of decriminalization as well as relevant information below. Please contact me for any clarification or further information. "In 1949, the United Nations passed a convention paper that called for the decriminalization of prostitution and the enforcement of laws against those who exploit women and children in prostitution. The paper, which was read to the United Nations General Assembly by Eleanor Roosevelt, has been ratified by more than fifty countries, but not the United States. " quote from www.bayswan.org/ushist.html website by Carol Leigh, the woman who coined the term "sex worker." You will find the voice of former chief of police, Joseph McNamara, in the attached radio interview. He appeared on ABC's 20/20 with me about 8 years ago, as well. "Joseph D. Paperback Robyn Few is the executive director of the newly formed SWOP-USA (www.swop-usa.org/). She is at the forefront of current efforts to decriminalize prostitution in the U.S.A. She posts the following at her website: Decriminalizing Prostitution Can Stop Illegal Brothels, Trafficking of Women and Increase Public Health and Safety 1. If prostitution were decriminalized there would be no illegal black market for women sex slaves. 2. If prostitution were decriminalized the existing zoning laws would prevent brothels from opening in residential neighborhoods. Laws that apply to legitimate businesses would also apply to brothels. 3. If prostitution were decriminalized licensed brothel owners would not jeopardize their business by hiring illegal, underage or trafficked women. 4. If prostitution were decriminalized it would allow law enforcement the ability to concentrate on determining and distinguishing between child prostitution and consensual adult prostitution. 5. If prostitution were decriminalized it will help eliminate pimps by providing prostitutes with occupational choices. 6. If prostitution were decriminalized it would help prevent violent offenders from remaining on the streets. With equal protections under the law prostitutes could report assaults perpetrated against them or others without fear of prosecution. 7. If prostitution were decriminalized it would promote the mental health of prostitutes. 8. If prostitution were decriminalized it will improve health education, STD and AIDS prevention outreach. Education will allow people to make safer choices about sexual health. 9. Laws against prostitution have no effect on demand, but have a profound effect on the safety and well being of sex workers and society as a whole. 10. A criminal record impedes mobility from the sex worker industry to other occupations. If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to contact me. THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS BETTER Veronica Monet graduated with honors from Oregon State University and has training in Tantra, Human Sexuality, and Ancient Sacred Prostitution. http://www.drsusanblock.com/edit...v_heff.htm Maximillian Lobkowicz So far, my instinct has not been wrong. Escorting has never ever been at this place in time. My SITE currently generates about $3000 a month. Lets address some of the myths It is a myth that the guys wont come back after they sleep with you. I have been escorting exclusively for 6 years but only via the internet for 3. I am an escort first and that is my niche. Another myth is the age-longevity of the career issue. It is funny because these review boards give us the first real look into what men really want. I must agree that it is typical that men dont want to see a woman who has seen 10000 guys but on the other hand, what proof do we really have of this? How is it that you know that the average person wants to see a porn actress not an escort? VIEW Ali VIEW Sonya VIEW Farrah Leah VIEW Morgan Ashley VIEW LJ Montana VIEW Jackie VIEW Felicia Foxx VIEW Brazil Fitness VIEW Ayana VIEW Jill VIEW Melissa VIEW Shauna/Wyld Orchid VIEW Erin O'Bryn I think that what you have to see in my comparison to the reality shows is that I am an extension of that. As far as what I make from the fellows I see, I have never gotten a lump large sum from one person. It is a myth that they want to believe I am single and want them. As far as escorting and legal issues. Artists are always given leeway till they are hung... For two, I really mean it. Prostitution is a crime of intent, not of action. Just like those that started marketing porn back in the 60 and 70s when it went really big due to the VCR. To allow those guys that dont want to actually see an escort live the fantasy through me as well as those that just love to look find a place for real quality porn. So, do you think I am totally difficult? Stevi Secret was successful in Las Vegas, where a judge tossed out a botched case of pandering and the Freeman case was cited but it never went to court to be fully tested in Nevada. California is the only place that has strong case law in the Freeman case, yet it leaves wide open the opportunity for a prosecutor to try and attack a porn film on obscenity charges. In the Freeman Case, the California Supreme Court reversed the pandering conviction of a film producer who paid actors to copulate on screen. In Arizona there is a bad case that does not involve making porn but private booth dancers, behind glass who fondled each other - who were convicted of prostitution along with owner convicted of felonies for pandering etc. Here the Appeals court upheld the conviction. The AZ case discusses the Freeman Case from California but found "A defendant's engaging in the fondling of another woman's breasts under a fee arrangement whereby undercover police detectives paid to watch the The Court said; "State has legitimate interests in regulating prostitution unrelated to suppressing free speech; supporting rationales include preventing communicable disease, preventing sexual exploitation, and reducing assorted criminal misconduct that tends to cluster with prostitution. For the complete text of the Arizona Court of Appeals Decision upholding the prostitution related charges see: A few years ago there was a "video studio" trying to have customer be filmed with "actors" for private porn videos. They were charged with prostitution and closed down. I do not know the case outcome, but I bet Therefore, it seems only legally safe, but not absolutely safe (the obscenity issue) to do porn films in California. Best wishes So you want to know more about the porn or adult industry?: Even though the adult industry has been around since the 70's in mainstream, we have to be aware that there are people out there in this world that still feel that what performers do is immoral, disgusting and negative. But even though they don't have to see it if they don't like it, our government tends to side with those they think are morrally correct. Yes, there are people in the industry that go overboard with crud that is senseless, mainly from jerks of the jiz biz. But Bush and Ashcroft and people like them have a different way of thinking and they think they can mold Americans the way they want things done without looking at the supplies and demands of the industry. There's a reason why performers keep busy and its because of how performers produce and act along with their beauty and patrons want to fantasize. You know it takes a certain person to live in this industry and you know that performers are in this for 3 things: A. To have fun with other fun people Yes, it's a form of Prostitution, but who in this world is not a prostitute? It's only immoral to those that have a different belief system as many will tell you that they are voluntarily exploiting themselves. I laugh when I see these cop shows making stings to catch "Johns" looking for hookers. Television, magazines, commercials, films, billboards.. Clubs in Vegas alone have reached breaking records of attendance and the government is about to break down the industry. The main reason why the industry is always in battle against the gov't is also because there is a lack of support from the community because many people are in this game for themselves or they don't want too It doesn't make too much sense that the gov't allows nudity and xxx themes in some places and not others. You either have it or you don't. I have not heard from people in the adult industry working on a union. Charge a membership like SAG does. Just like with those involved with AA or NA.. These things don't come out with the wave of a magic wand. The problem I see is not with the johns and not with the hooker. The only issue I see is the mass drug and alcohol abuse involved with these people that lead feds on. If police only checked for drugs and illegal contraband and a health card that showed that they took a monthly PCR-DNA test and a piss or hair test and both were clean, then they should be left alone and put away those that possess illegal drugs and/or a sexual disease as a gross misdemeanor or felony. The sentence should be a combo of psychological and drug counceling and watch a tape on sexual diseases. Is it because of the money or more with the productions? Actually its a combo of both but mostly the consistency of work with more higher quality shooters Super Performers of today talk about starting up their own production houses like Jill Kelly and Jenna Jameson did back years ago because their tired of dealing with disrespectful producers and directors. AGAIN, THIS IS NOT EVERYONE as I've met some cool producers and award winning directors I hear from girls that get into Anal porn that don't even like anal sex because they feel pressured and they need the extra $1500 that they can make in the shoot. Teri W stated earlier she never has done Anal porn and would never do it as she doesn't like it. After 20 years in the business - Teri doesn't own her own home; Every star should have everything they own paid off and more if they managed their money more better, which many both in the stripper and adult industry don't do with the exception of a couple of people today. The girl standing in line at Burger King making $1 hamburgers that works 20 years at Burger King is going to get Social Security when she's 65 while the adult performer has to keep hoping to sell old films. Especially when 10000 other people are fighting for the same things But in the entertainment industry the system isn't all that simple and cut and dry And after 40 years old, the popularity starts dwindling and people start feeling the effects That's why so many feel depressed and unworthy and tired of the business A known director on television said one time that these girls are gonna get involved with 250 producers once or twice and that's it. 1. Raise the age of hardcore performing to 21. Now whether you value his opinion or not, he still has his reasons And he is pretty much right on the money as the industry is getting overwhelmed with prospects From a professor at UNLV: I'm all for freedom of speech, and I know the arguments made by John Milton and Baruch Spinoza in the 17th c. Prof. Barbara Brents and Prof. Kate Hausbeck in Sociology; they recently did a bunch of work on "sex workers" in Las Vegas best, Craig Walton there are a handful of other men, and one woman, who have helped bush prostitute the united states while CNN goes off chasing quite useless subjects. contact me at your earliest convenience for more information: cheers. I have been on CNN 3 times so far, but not in recent history.
My most recent television appearance (September 2003) was a debate about the decriminalization of prostitution with former congressman John Kasich on the Fox News network.
I am offering my services as a spokesperson on decriminalization, as well as referrals to other spokespersons on the topic.
His arguments for decriminalization of prostitution come from years of experience in law enforcement:
He is recognized as an expert in criminal justice, police technology and management systems, crime prevention, and international drug control policies. "

She, Carol Leigh and I recently (December 2003) appeared on the same Berkeley panel speaking on behalf of decriminalizing prostitution. You can find out more about her at:
Rita Nakashima Brock and Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite. Augsburg Fortress Publishers, 1996., now available from Amazon.com
ISBN: 0800636147
She is currently working with a team of lawyers and many high level government officials in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. If you want to know the latest about the grassroots efforts to decriminalize prostitution in the U.S.A., you MUST speak to her!
If we remove the profit incentive, we remove the motivation of the traffickers.
Criminals perpetrating crimes against sex workers are a danger to everyone in society.
Many women involved in illegal sex work feel isolated and ashamed.
Police using condoms as evidence of a crime does not promote safe sex.
If prostitution were decriminalized sex workers would be able to move from one occupation to another without fear of discrimination.
I have a digital press kit complete with clips from previous television appearances as well as copies of my published articles on prostitution.
I would be happy to send you a copy of my press kit free of charge!

Ok I guess we need to hammer some of this out.
Please have an open mind.
We ARE up and coming stars.
I have people approach me all the time and ask me if I am Erin OBryn.
More so than when I was modeling and on Playboy channel every night.
This is with no additional marketing directed at porn, only my standard advertising as an escort.
I, on the other hand consistently make much more.
I do not ever lack for bookings.
In fact, I go way out of my way to make it difficult to book with me as it helps keep me desired and I also am not interested in seeing more than a couple of clients a day unless I am on the road.
That they are only driven by the illusion and that once you break it, you will be passed by.
They do that with porn stars because they are not all that is promised and disappointment quickly follows the bursting of the bubble.
I, on the other hand am much more than they expect.
Yes, I have tons of repeat clients and I have had them for years.
I can barely fit in new clients when I travel at this time and I turn away some so that I continue to generate new material for my site.
And as far as the men only telling me what they want to hear, that also is not true because I have no idea who puts the reviews in.
They are not linked to me at all and they are completely anonymous on my side of it.
They dont get better treatment from me if they give me a good review.
I have done nothing but been able to raise my rates consistently about every 6 months due to my understanding of the review process.
And it is a marketable niche too as my reasonable success shows by the basic marketing that I have already done.
(My monthly expenditure for advertising is under $1000 and I return about $15000-$20000 per month when I work consistently.
I do take off for some extended times)
The top escorts in the country are all in their 40s and up.
Unlike porn stars, we dont loose our marketability as we age or gain experience (men).
See www.bebedoll.net and L J Montana for some great examples.
What is really funny is that in porn, people seem to think that men want 18 year old women but the review boards for escorts show that men prefer older women.
A perfect example would be Deja from Hawaii or Amber.
Both are 20 and way better looking than me but both score very low in the reviews.
They may make better $$$ in the short term being cash and dash girls but they will never have the longevity that I have or the earning potential.
Who would have thought?
It a tool that porn would be wise to use.
You must admit that porn, like most industries, is made and marketed by people who already have a preconceived idea of what works.
And it is a self fulfilling prophecy since if it is what is out there it becomes what people buy not because it is always what people necessarily want.
It is not very open to new ideasand combining them in the manner that I have done is a very new idea.
Usually it is men who are seen as the one who does everyone.
We think that works and in the past it has but it is a different time.
Women can own their sex now.
(See sex in the city grand success)
If that were true, the review boards would rate the porn actresss way higher but they dont Few are in the top 10. Here is the list.. .rankings 1-10 smallest - worst

I am reality escorting/porn.
It is not that I think that I hang with Jessica Simpson.
But the producers of these shows did get the idea to move into this field from the way that home porn sells.
Porn influences many industries including technology and TV.
This is a myth that we live off of one sucker at a time.
Some in the industry do, I am sure, but not the majority.
I make my $ in the exact same fashion as a porn star.
I have simply expanded my marketability.
I bill hourly, at rates that are above what the current porn stars make and I get bookings every day if I so want them.
I also go home at night and my clients know that.
They know I have a bf and family.
They are more than ok with that.
Everyone knows that Bebedoll.net is a soccer mom and married.
Yet she remains top in the business even though her looks are plain.
They want the experience of living porn.
The men are tired of just watching from afar and going home to the same old same old to be frustrated by a wife that wont give a sloppy blow job or do anal sex or use their hand again.
I really am not too affected by it.
I have had my attorney look closely at the way I operate and to the best of our ability to discern I am in the green.
For one, I am pretty well covered under first amendment rights.
By publishing the pictures and not editing them I can claim educational and scientific value and not be considered porn in most places.
I never discuss $$.
I never see $$$, never touch the sealed envelope till after the door shuts and in the very few instances that I have been ripped off (less than $2500 in 6 years)
I simply let it go.
I never call or attempt to get the money.
It is legal EVERYWHERE to have sex.
It is not legal to negotiate for it.
(And certain acts are banned in certain areas of course)
Even if I ever did get arrested, it is usually only a small fine and overnight in jail.
What is that?
Nothing different than porn stars went through in the 70s right?
A bearable cost to what I make.
Escorting is undergoing the same metamorphous due to the internet.
I want to expand my personal product base, and get my name recognized as the leader in escorting.
All of my market research that I did in the years preceding the building of my site showed that most men were very disappointed in the members sections they joined.
Most are very hard to navigate, never update, dont have what was promised and hence the men quickly dropped their membership and now they are reluctant to join any again.
I dont really have this problem.
I tend to keep the members I have for a long period of time.

California is the only state with case law
(People v. Freeman) that tends to support porn movies not being subject to prostitution related charges such as pandering against the producer.
But it rests only on the fine line, that it was not obscene. There is no other case precedent protection in other states although the case is helpful even if not
setting a precedent in other states.
See her interesting extensive report on her 1995 fight of pandering charges and what the police tried to do to her is at www.stevisecret.com/libra...1095vx.htm
There is no clear definition of what obscenity is - it is based on local "community standards."
Also more conservative states may not follow the Freeman case.
While other cases in other states have referred to it, it is not a precedent in any other state, nor is Stevi's Las Vegas experience, since fortunately a judge tossed the case, but there was no trial or decision to establish a precedent.
The defendant in Freeman was not charged with obscenity. The court observed that "the self-evident purpose of the prosecuting authority in bringing ... charges [of pandering] was to prevent profiteering in
pornography without the necessity of proving obscenity." The court concluded (1) that the state must prove the film lacked First Amendment protection
in order to punish the defendant for producing it; (2) that the state could only establish that the film lacked First Amendment protection by proving it obscene; and (3) that this film had not been proved--and thus could not be assumed--obscene.
No contact occurred between dancer and customer.
defendant and the other woman constituted "prostitution."
U.S.C.A. Const.Amend. 1. "
Remember there was no physical contact - there was glass window between the customer and performer !
http://www.sexwork.com/whatisnew...ution.html
they were all convicted as we have VERY conservative judges in Phoenix.
We even have a law making it illegal to "massage to arose". And the State tried to make it illegal to have an erection in a bar.
That proved to be too much of a joke in the media about how one would enforce such a law!
But the religious morality police are very much in control in Phoenix and Arizona, as they are in other conservative states. That could make the making of porn movies risky - and costly to appeal a case you do not know if you would win in a conservative jurisdiction.

Even if they just pose nude, they have a complaint about that.
Because they are controlled by those that are not knowledgeble with the industry because they think it is wrong.
Every generation has different beliefs.
Just like if you were to ask a question to 100 people, you most likely will get 100 different answers.
But we also see mainstream celebs getting involved in the adult industry because they see the demand and the hot bodies involved.
By disrupting strip clubs and film industry creations.
We know there is nothing wrong with fantasizing, we all do it at some point.
As long as it doesn't hurt anyone physically and mentally.
And as long as performers project a clean, vibrant and safe performance.
They should be able to climb the ladder of success.
B. To make money to pay for the things they want and need
C. Others appreciate beauty and talent and encourage them to get involved
We all sell ourselves in 1 way or another to make money.
Whether its in a film or in a magazine or a website.
That doesn't make you a bad person if you want to sell or shall we say lease your bodies out to those that want it.
Even if its just on film or paper.
I mean, what are they trying to accomplish?
Their wasting our tax dollars when they can use it helping those less fortunate to experience the fruits that are grown in our civilization.

Vegas productions are getting erotic since the Palms and the Aladdin and Harrahs have gotten involved.
These are all shows showcasing nudity and eroticism
much exposure.
Now, you know theres a lot of junk going on with gov't corruption with the stripper and sex industry.
I think that if people created a plan, that a union could be good for everyone.
As there needs to be more protection, better producers, talent, photographers, etc.
More background checks and better testing needs to be put in place.
Most people in the industry have led messed up lives and they need help with putting their lives together.
What William Margold and FSC is doing has helped a lot of people but not enough.
Because most in this industry do not see their life movie running.
They don't see their own problems that need to be dealt with.
Then you can see how many true players there are that are willing to stay in the industry and who is worthy.
As we all know most talent do not last in this business but a few years.
They also need insurance, benefits, health, dental, eye, workers comp and a service like the Better Business Bureau that will protect those that are willing to work in this industry.
It takes a lot of people and hard work and worthy ideas to make it work.
There is talk about a company wanting to expose men who hire prostitutes and then fine and jail them.
In 1 day there were over 300 arrests in Vegas.
It is with the relationships within marriages and
boyfriend/girlfriend.
It is with societies expectations, rules and the dating process, that are not being met that lead men to look for hookers.
It is how the john and prostitute were raised early in life that led them to the life.
=
What do you think about the interview on Larry King with Traci Lords?
She is promoting a book about her life and is shunning the porn industry.
I'm hearing from some veteran performers that their glad to be out of the adult business.
Or the quality of the people they dealt with?
And they want more control.
While you'll hear many younger girls say they love Anal sex and bukkakes
Ginger Lynn is always struggling to pay her own bills after 30 years.
AND THERES THOUSANDS OF FILMS OUT THERE at $15 or $20 a pop
I think
THAT'S IF THEIR LUCKY
What to do about the adult industry according to William Margold
William or Bill Margold has been involved in the adult industry for about 25 yrs.
Networked with many of the popular performers and producers..
He now is an advocate and sits on the board of directors of the Free Speech Coalition and PAW Foundation
2. Eradicate the high profile escort services that employ adult actresses. Our ladies aren't "whores" they are adult entertainment performers.
The difference between being a prostitute and being an
adult actress can be summed up in one word: anonimity!
3. Convince an enterprising politician to support the creating of a "Porn Tax" therein giving the Adult Entertainment Industry the same
"nice vice" status as smoking, drinking and gambling.
http://www.freespeechcoalition.com
http://www.pawfoundation.org
But to call taking off my clothes "speech" is, to me, as nonsensical as to call 'having lots of money' speech, which is the position of the Supreme Court re: campaign finance. Nuts.
