I have a friend who is very stingy. He won't lend money to anyone without recieving something to use as leverage. Not even to his close friends will he loan money. When he purchases something, he will not share it. Because "he" bought it and it is his. This is magnified in the popular RPG everquest. He spends the majority of his day playing this game, accumulating game money and experience. However, even though he is immensely wealthy in the game, compared to his friends, he will not share for fear they will not pay him back. I spoke to his parents and they both told me that he keeps everything, that he still has items from when he was a baby, such as passifiers (not as keepsakes). I believe that he has a general fear of loss of control. This would explain why he does not loan people money without some kind of leverage. The leverage allows him to remain in control, whereas if he had no leverage the person who was lent the money would have the control. However it does not explain his "packrat" like behavior. Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.
