I've worked out of my home office for twenty years and have never felt (except maybe at the beginning) it was a good idea. I primarily see children and adolescents, and my own children had a whole host of reactions to this as they grew up. Robert Langs (again!!) has written extensively about this and is harshly critical of home offices. If you want to pursue these references let me know. Of course the problem is.. that the home office is very convenient and eliminates what is usually the biggest single overhead expense. Langs felt that it severely comprised issues of privacy and confidentionality. If the office is physically connected to the house-- trying to keep young children quiet is a hopeless situation!!
