It's a small thing, but the father's overreaction to the son's "transgression" (telling the police?!), if true, speaks to me of the possible hereditary/organic and/or learned nature of Joseph's delusions. I wonder if someday, with more information to confirm, this might be reframed and handed back to Joseph: "Perhaps you and your father had more in common than either of you knew at the time." Is that taking it too far? Am I off track?
